Sustaining the Legacy of Excellence

The Rainier Club's Historical Foundation (RCHF) is dedicated to preserving the legacy, artifacts, and narratives that have shaped our institution over time. By safeguarding our historical treasures, we honor the dedication and vision of those who came before us. Through meticulous preservation efforts, we ensure that our heritage remains a vibrant part of our club's present and future, connecting generations through shared stories and accomplishments.

The RCHF, a 501(c)3 charitable corporation, was created to preserve the historic, aesthetic and cultural significance of The Rainier Club’s iconic, landmark building for the greater Seattle community. The building's history as a rare example of Jacobean-revival style in Seattle, The Rainier Club was designed by noted Spokane architect Kirtland K. Cutter in 1904.

In 1929, distinguished architect partners Charles H. Bebb and Carl F. Gould of Seattle designed a new building wing with a Georgian-style entry with Art Deco ornamentation throughout the Clubhouse which is beautifully preserved to this day. The Club was designated a historic landmark in 1986 by the City of Seattle’s Historic Preservation Office and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

The Rainier Club respectfully acknowledges that the land on which it stands is the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the Duwamish, Suquamish, Snoqualmie, Tulalip, and Muckleshoot Nations. We honor the enduring presence and resilience of these Indigenous communities, recognizing their deep connection to this land, waterways, and all that inhabit it. We express our gratitude for the opportunity to gather and work on this territory, and we strive to foster meaningful relationships with the Coast Salish Peoples based on mutual respect and understanding.
