Creating Books as Objects of Art in the 21st Century
Tuesday, February 11, 6:30 P.M.

As our world becomes more digital, some prize bespoke printed texts of extraordinary form and quality. Rainier Club Member, Ed Marquand, owner of Marquand Editions, will present several of his exquisite books produced at his studio in Tieton, Washington, outside of Yakima. There, he hires members from the community to learn letterpress printing and binding. They combine techniques from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries to create them.

Some of the editions he will present are included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Library of Congress, the Vatican Library, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Huntington Library, the Stanford Library, the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, the University of Washington, and many others.
