Rainier Club Fellow Donald Byrd Memoir Reading
Tuesday, February 25, 6:30 P.M.

Please join Rainier Club members, and Spectrum Dance Theatre special invitees on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at 6:30 PM for what is sure to be a fascinating evening as Rainier Club Fellow Donald Byrd reads from his in-progress memoir, and joins in conversation and personal reflection with Vivian Phillips, Chair of Seattle Arts Commission.

For four decades, master choreographer Donald Byrd has created innovative and startling productions that explore the capacities of dancers’ bodies, the complexities of Africanist aesthetics, and the ways theatrical dance can open audiences to social change. Byrd is a TONY Award nominee (The Color Purple) and Bessie Award winner (The Minstrel Show), and 2019 recipient of the Doris Duke Artist Award.
